Easy .Tel Domain Building for Small Business Awareness

.Tel domains are perfect vehicles for introducing a small business to the internet and the world of on-line marketing. Building a .tel domain is easy, but building the subdomains to support search engine discovery is a bit more challenging and a stumbling point for many. After all, how many small business owners know about the “long tail” and SEO.
Telmasters has launched a new service that allows a small business to find the right domain name, get it populated and have it ready for consumer awareness in a logical manner. By using a small business questionnaire, we will buy, create, organize and optimize a .tel domain, having it ready within one business day.
Many a small business owner doesn’t have the time to figure out the intricacies of building a site optimized to make new customers in their community aware of their offerings. We’ve laid it all out with a series of step-by-step questions that make the owner think about their business and how they can attract new customers on-line.
Using the owner’s answers, a domain is initialized, contact information is presented, images inserted, and content is organized across several key subdomain pages (about us, coupons, detailed contact, social network identities, testimonials). A compact set of SEO-friendly subdomains is created, pre-populated with relevant content.
A site’s SEO content and “long-tail” subdomain layout is critical for a small business to compete in their local community. Building this awareness is a matter of using the small business owner’s knowledge of their own products, services, customers and geography to their advantage. The owner knows their business factors, and we know how to combine these factors with .tel’s SEO and mobile features. This is where our service shines.
An important factor of this service is that it saves time, time that the small business owner doesn’t have to research, build and promote an organized web presence. After the site is ready, the owner can then take the time to learn about how to manage and maintain their site using Telnic’s CTH or Telmaster’s visual editor.
We hope that by launching this $100 service, more small business owners will use and retain their .tel domains while becoming more successful. Check out Telmasters’ .tel SEO questionnaire and see if you or your customers can use this time-saving service

Frequently Asked Questions

What are email identities?
Email identities are memorable email addresses that are used to forward email to recipients. Instead of using a non-professional email address like hibabe435@xmail.com, businesses and people can use an email address related to a generic word or community, eg karate@chatham.tel or toronto@paints.tel. Identity email address are different because they uniquely identify their user with the community they do business in, or with a product or service they sell.
Why use .Tel?
.Tel provides the only readily-available source of generic domain names for use with brandable, memorable email addresses. Great identities are available across the many owners of this gTLD. Like a small piece of real estate, your domain name is a valuable asset. Share it via an email address. We make things very quick and easy. After you get customers to use an identity, upsell them on landing pages, advertising, even geo-aware banners.
Using our platform, you can enable other owners to sell email addresses on your domain, at the commission levels you decide.
What are the end-user requirements?
Identity emails do not replace any email system, so your end user must have an existing email client such as MS Outlook®, Hotmail®, MS Live Mail®, Gmail®, Yahoo!®, AOL®, Thunderbird, Entourage®, etc. Identity forwaring is compatible with all computers and smartphones.
How to an identity for branding?
It's real easy. Just promote the possibilities with your domain by providing examples. Here are examples of branded @identities:
pizza@bristol.tel
john@macdonald.tel
toronto@generators.tel
mark@baptists.tel
london@yourmover.tel
art@lawncare.tel
miami@condos.tel
Which domain names are ideal for identities?
There are no specific criteria when offering your domain name for use as an identity. Consider length, memorability, popularity. Generally, the more generic and shorter your domain name, the more ideal it is for an identity. However, surname domain, geographic and job title domains are ideal too.
How do identities work?
Email identities forward email to the recipient. Your customer uses their identity to send emails. Our server forwards their email using the identity. The recipient sees an email using a generic term like "cars". No email is maintained on our server - it just sends email to the real email address.
What is community affinity?
Community affinity is a term used to help sell the concept of email identities. A community-centric email address helps identity a business as a member of its local community. You can use this to push the concept of community emails to get a business to use an identity with your domain.
What's an email server?
Our email server handles the forwarding
How much can I make?
How do I order?
Register as a Telmasters owner first then login. Go to My Account.
Can subdomains be used in identities?
Yes. Subdomains can be used, and best used with shorter domain names. Examples:
toronto@smoked.meats.tel
best@bakers.erie.tel
go@cars.ok.tel
How do I share my domain?
Using our platform, you can enable other owners to sell email addresses on your domain, at the commission levels you decide. Use the Account Manager to set criteria and commissions. Everyone wins. Enable prepaid credits for sharing.
What's the generic fee breakdown?
Which domains qualify to lease identities?
Generic, geographic, surnames, jobs, "Yellow Page" ™ categories are ideal. Vanity domain names like @cool.tel work well also. In most cases, the short, the better in our opinion.
What are credits?
What terms of service should I provide?
As the domain owner, you need to clearly state your terms of service to your users. When you allow identities on your domain, you are responsible for maintaining a contractual obligation with yours users. As providers of the email forwarding service, our obligation is to ensure delivery of emails. Your obligation is continuity of service during the contracted period. However, in case you sell your domain, your users should know what to expect.

Now that I am back from vacation, Telidentity.com will launch soon. It's an email service for all .tel owners. Forum members will get some free accounts for promotion. If you want to try now please just PM me for instructions. It handles subdomain email address forwarding as well as main domain name. Domain owners will be able to monetize their generic and geo domains by selling "identities" that relate mostly small businesses with their communities. eg florists@oakridges.tel or toronto@basements.tel etc. This has untapped potential.

The sales pitch is to stop using ugly email addresses like furniture_373@gmail.com and provide a forwarder using a generic email like furniture@chatham.tel instead.

Ultimately you will be able to pool your domains so that others can sell identities into domains they don't own. You set the end-user price and the split to the reseller. Cross-selling identities is a win-win for all.

Mark

This subject has been Flogged to death, and even telnames have not implemented a simple easy email solution within the control panel of a purchased .tel

Mark, thank you. Great to see you yet again bringing needed functionality that should exist out of the box with a .tel purchase

For what it's worth, domainmonster at least provides forwarding and multiple alias for any .tel they sell you. Unfortunately, even they didnt get it right yet. This function should be part of the .tel control panel.
Sigh

Good idea Mark but still question to ask, I am working to make a premium directory just for London, and this idea could be an extra services, instead to charge in my premium directory £5 per year to 10000 customer, I let know people after sometime about this project. Let go to say premium directory £50 + £20 email or just say £70 with both directory and email.

I need to explain something. The Telidentity solution is not just simply about providing email with or without Telnic. Anyone can do that manually. This solution is about automatically sharing a domain so others can cross-sell services into it.

If you own a hot premium domain, why not let others sell email addresses for you? The domain owner cannot tap all markets, so someone in London can now sell an identity for a domain owned by someone in Chicago. Because there are so many untapped premium tel domains going to waste at the moment, the ability to create awareness using premium properties is of prime importance.

I will be offering all my premium domains for cross-selling identities as an example. I will set a retail price for an identity, perhaps $10 per year to start. But I will also set the commission, maybe 50-50 split. Doesn't matter what they are, the price and commission are set by the owner of the domain. We can all gauge ideal pricing for the small business market.

Telidentity automates and controls the whole process from creating the MX record to forwarding the email to running the email server in the background.
